The North Shore of Long
Island is home to a variety of fish species. The Striped Bass arrive
in the spring and can be found throughout the water column. Trophy
fish are great to catch on lighter tackle. Within frequent feeding
frenzies along the surface, you can hook up using either spinning or
flyfishing gear. Trolling with medium rods can also be productive
within these waters. Bluefish are among the strongest fighting fish
around, and can be enjoyed throughout the summer and fall seasons.
They are a great first flyrod fish. Weakfish, Fluke and Blackfish
make for great tablefare. The fall runs can even lead to the
"New York Slam" (Striper, Blue and False Albacore).
